## Why 368 and 373 have no stored search results

Root cause: a **transient Tavily response failure**, not a config or credentials problem.

- The nightly job *did* run their Tavily searches (cron logs show `Searching for '…'` then `Found 0 search results`).
- `ChatService.search_current_events()` swallows both genuine-empty results *and* malformed responses into an empty list (`[]`). On those two runs Tavily returned a non-dict payload (a **string**), tripping the `Unexpected response format: <class 'str'>` branch → `[]`.
- `WpService.post_article()` only writes `_tsai_search_results` when the list is non-empty, so the meta was skipped. The article **and** its fact-check comment were still generated — from the model's own knowledge, with no sources.
- Reproduced live on 2026-06-06: the exact same queries/params intermittently return a string (0 results) but succeed on retry and succeed consistently now. Historical logs show the same intermittent 0-result behavior on other dates (e.g. May 9 Mason, May 12 Ronan).
- The exact Jun 3/4 error text is unrecoverable: `api/logs/api.log` (where `logging.error` writes) stopped recording on 2026-05-26, and the app's Python logs aren't currently reaching the systemd journal.

**Implications for corrections:** 368 and 373 can't be corrected against their original sources (none were stored). A corrections pass on them would have to run a fresh search. The 18 articles listed above are unaffected.

### Suggested hardening (optional)
1. Retry the Tavily call (1–2×) when the response is empty or not a dict, since the failure is transient.
